Ruud Happy to See Sinner Back on Tour: "I Look Forward to Catching Up With Him"
Recently crowned champion in Madrid, Casper Ruud will make his debut in Rome against Alexander Bublik or Roman Safiullin.
The Norwegian, still highly regarded by his peers, delivered a heartfelt message of support for Jannik Sinner, the world No. 1 making his return to competition this week after a three-month suspension:
"I hope he receives a warm welcome from the fans and that many will cheer him on. I’m looking forward to seeing him back on court on Saturday. I haven’t had the chance to meet him yet, but I can’t wait to see him and catch up. It’s great to have him back on tour. [...]
I’ve spoken a lot about him and always shared my thoughts on the sanction he received. I’ve always tried to show him support because I realized this could be a tough time for him.
He wasn’t injured or anything, so I hope he’s in good shape. There’s a good chance he’ll perform at a very high level right from the start. I hope he can have a strong tournament in his comeback here in Rome."
