Ruud: "I don't dare be as aggressive as Sinner".
Casper Ruud had a tough time of it against Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals of the Masters (ATP Finals) in Turin.
In a press conference, the Norwegian explained what he had learned and seen in this defeat: "I think that for the first fifteen minutes, Jannik made no mistakes.
There were some very good points, and they were all in his favor. It's normal that I was a bit disorientated and wondering what to do.
I think I've learned that I need to serve better next time I play him. Also try not to stress. If he makes winning shots, you have to applaud and say "well done" sometimes.
He really commits to his shots. That's something I can learn too. Sometimes, I hesitate a little. Especially on this surface, I don't dare be as aggressive as he is.
I didn't learn tennis by hitting winners after one or two rallies. I grew up playing on clay in Spain, which was a different way of playing tennis.
It's a more patient kind of tennis, and I think against someone like Sinner, it can punish you."
