Ruud very realistic: "I can say anything, it makes the headlines".
Casper Ruud gives the impression of a calm, thoughtful tennis player. Whether on or off the court, the Norwegian seems to have the ability to step back easily from the things he experiences.
Such is the case when it comes to the media exposure that necessarily goes hand in hand with being a top tennis player. The current world No. 7 spoke on the subject in an interview with Wearetennis.
And, to take a step back ourselves, here's a great example of what Ruud has to say. He simply said that he could declare anything, that it would always make the headlines. And here he is on the front page of TennisTemple.
Casper Ruud: "Yes, in a way. I mean, I think that by becoming a sportsman or a famous person, and in the world we live in today, you kind of have a voice if you want to use it, and for almost anything. It can be for better or for worse.
You shouldn't use your voice for things you don't know very well, let's say, but you can, because it's very easy. Just go on social networks, on an app or have an interview and I could say anything I want, and it would be front-page news, so to speak.
I realize that if I say something a little out of the ordinary or have an opinion on something outside sport, it quickly becomes a headline.
So yes, I realize I have a voice, but you have to be careful how you use it."
