Rybakina in BJK Cup: "It's unusual to go to Australia in the middle of the season"
Elena Rybakina is in Brisbane to represent Kazakhstan in the Billie Jean King Cup.
Her country will face Australia and Colombia back-to-back this Thursday and Friday. When asked, Rybakina spoke about her commitment to the competition.
"Brisbane is a special city for me: last year, I won a tournament here.
Of course, it's a bit unusual to go to Australia in the middle of the season, especially since the clay-court tournaments have already started in Europe, and here it's tough.
But I’m very happy to play for the national team again, and I’ll try to play good tennis.
I always try to represent Kazakhstan on the international stage.
Our schedule is tough, but whenever I have the opportunity to play for the national team, I try to take it. It’s an honor to play for your country.
We have every chance to win. We believe in ourselves."
