Rybakina faced qualifier Siniakova (74th) in the second round of the Berlin tournament. She had previously eliminated Krueger in the previous round.
Opportunistic in the first set, the 11th-ranked player struggled with her game and lacked precision in the decisive points that followed. As a result, she had to battle through a tie-break, narrowly winning it (7-5). This was the first time the player won a grass-court match after being broken first in both opening sets (trailing 2-4 in the first and 1-3 in the second).
She ultimately prevailed in a hard-fought victory (6-4, 7-6) while also securing her 10th win in her last 12 matches.
For a spot in the semifinals, she will face Sabalenka, who defeated Masarova.
