The curse continues for Aryna Sabalenka. After three final losses in Stuttgart (2021, 2022, 2023), the Belarusian once again settled for second place.
Facing Ostapenko, the world number one suffered a disappointment in a match that lasted 1 hour and 25 minutes. On the court after the match, she couldn't help but joke about this latest setback:
"Congratulations, Jelena, enjoy that beautiful car. I’m glad I can afford to buy one myself. After this final, I’ll order one—that’s the only solution for me."
The player was referring to the car awarded to the tournament winner. Meanwhile, the Latvian-born player delivered a second impressive performance after her quarterfinal victory over Swiatek (6-3, 3-6, 6-2).
