Sabalenka on Bencic: "It gives hope to those who want a baby".
Aryna Sabalenka was keen to praise the performance of Belinda Bencic, who made her return to competition at the end of October 2024 following a pregnancy and won the WTA 500 tournament in Abu Dhabi.
For Sabalenka, this performance is good news for players wishing to have a child, like herself, who had declared that she didn't want to wait until she was 35.
She says: "It's impressive, honestly. She's just come back, I think she had a good run at the Australian Open, and now she's lifting the trophy in Abu Dhabi.
It's incredible, I'm happy for her, she clearly deserved it. As she said, she worked very hard for it, and it's lovely to see.
It gives us hope that, probably, when we all feel like having a baby, we'll have a chance to come back if we want to."
