Samuel Lopez, Alcaraz's co-coach: "Without playing his best tennis, he won an important title in his career"
Carlos Alcaraz won his first title in Monte-Carlo this Sunday and the sixth Masters 1000 of his career.
His co-coach Samuel Lopez, who accompanied him throughout the week in the absence of Juan Carlos Ferrero, shared his thoughts on his protégé's triumph in Monaco:
"This week in Monaco, he perfectly refocused himself and found the right path again. My summary is that, without playing his best tennis, he won an important title in his career. He needs to remember this: while playing improvable tennis, his attitude and mental work were excellent.
Carlos was able to face the situation while staying true to himself, with his own identity. And that’s the positive takeaway from this tournament for me. To endure and accept the problems that arise, the tough situations, and keep moving forward. When you’re strong in that aspect, you can deliver good tennis. His game will keep improving."
