After Lorenzo Musetti's fine bronze medal in July, it was once again Jannik Sinner who did Italy proud by winning the US Open on Sunday.
A solid winner over Fritz in the final (6-3, 6-4, 7-5), Sinner clinched his second major title of the season, after the Australian Open in January.
Angelo Binaghi, President of the Italian Tennis Federation, told Ubitennis: "We have to get ready: we've entered a new era.
Do you remember Borg's Sweden, Nadal's Spain? The figures say that this is Italy's era.
We need to arm ourselves with tickets and take advantage of this era of satisfaction.
The next objective will be to win a major tournament in Italy."
