Serena Williams Addresses the Sinner Case: "If I Had Done the Same Thing, They Would Have Taken Away My Grand Slams"

Serena Williams continues to follow tennis news, as she explained this Wednesday in an interview with *Time* magazine.
The former world No. 1 spoke in particular about the case involving Jannik Sinner, which lasted for many months and ended with a three-month suspension for negligence:
"I love this guy and his game. He’s great for the sport. Regarding his case, I’ve been put down so much that I don’t want to put anyone else down. The men’s tennis world needs him.
But if I had done the same thing, I would have been suspended for 20 years. Let’s be honest. They would have taken away my Grand Slams."
The American, a 23-time Grand Slam champion, also briefly touched on the doping suspension faced by her former rival Maria Sharapova:
"Strangely, I can’t stop thinking about Maria through all of this. I can’t help but feel something for her."
Stranger still is she claimed it was a "virus", yet not a single other player caught this mysterious "virus", not even her sister who had to hold her hand to walk to the chair.

About Serena, remember the 2018 US Open final. She hurled the worst abuses at one of the best umpires in the tennis sport. In my opinion she should have been banned for a few years. She was lucky there.
