Shang wins first career ATP title in Chengdu
It was a dream week for Juncheng Shang, who won an unexpected title.
The 19-year-old left-hander has just won his first title on the main circuit, beating world No. 19 and Olympic bronze medallist Lorenzo Musetti in the final (7-6, 6-1).
Impressive since the start of the week, Shang has also recorded wins over Nishikori (6-4, 6-4), Safiullin (5-7, 6-3, 6-3), Bublik (6-4, 7-6), Hanfmann (6-4, 6-4) and Musetti.
Buoyed by his home crowd, the rising star of the ATP circuit has taken a major step forward in his young career, and is sure to be a player to watch for the rest of the Asian tour.
