Shapovalov on Tomic: "After thirty minutes, he said, 'Guys, it's over, I can't take it anymore'"
In a video for the UTS Tour, Denis Shapovalov revealed an amusing anecdote about Bernard Tomic: "I was doing the preseason in Gold Coast (Australia), and I was confident, I'd made the Paris-Bercy final.
I was training with Tomic and everything was going well. After ten or fifteen minutes, he asks if we can have a drink, because he says he's exhausted. Sitting on the bench, he says it's his first training session in about six months.
After thirty minutes, he said: "Guys, it's over, I can't take it anymore". The workout ended with a quick tiebreak. This guy is crushing me!
10-4, it's madness. And I wasn't playing badly. The guy was giving me passing shots, he was playing spectacularly."
