"She has the level to play big matches," Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard talks about his little sister Daphnée

This Tuesday, during the first round of qualifications at Roland-Garros, 16-year-old Daphnée Mpetshi Perricard defeated Gabriela Knutson (6-4, 6-3). Invited by the organizers of the Parisian Grand Slam, Giovanni's little sister put in a great performance to overcome the Czech player, who is nonetheless in the top 200 of the WTA rankings.
Present at the Bordeaux Challenger (which he won, by the way) last week, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard spoke about his sister in an interview with our colleagues at Avantage Tennis.
"We are in contact very often, but we don't talk about tennis. I try not to get in her head too much, I don't want to be the annoying big brother. I know she already puts pressure on herself.
Of course, she is young and wants to succeed. I know it will take time, but we've all been there. There are ups and downs when you're in the Juniors. It's nice she got a wild card; she should make the most of it.
We know how it goes. When you're playing against players who are top 150 or top 200, it's not the same level as what you're used to in Juniors or Futures. She has the level to play big matches. I wish her all the best for this Roland-Garros," stated the 32nd ranked player in the world.
