Shelton: "I need to be a complete player, I'm working on it"

A semi-finalist at the Australian Open earlier this season, Ben Shelton has established himself as one of the most consistent players on the ATP Tour in recent months.
Before starting the Indian Wells Masters 1000 against Mariano Navone, the world No. 12 was present at the pre-tournament press conference, discussing his preferred weapon in his game, namely his serve.
"When you look at the best players, there's no one who only has the serve as their strength. You need to be a complete player to win Grand Slams, to compete for the big titles.
I need to be a complete player, I'm working on it. My first-serve percentage is good compared to the top players on the tour, but I think it could be even higher.
I want to dominate and completely control my serve, all the spins and all the placements, and there are certain points where I need to be more precise and able to hit a bit better.
I'm working on putting all of this together, to have that complete arsenal. People talk a lot about potential, but what matters is the work you put in, and I know I'm working hard to improve and become more complete.
I'm sure everyone else is too, but I know I'm doing everything in my power, and that gives me confidence that I will continue to grow and learn. I don't see myself as a finished product.
In that sense, I agree that it's exciting for me, and I just want to see how good I can become," he assured Punto De Break.
