Diana Shnaider had enlisted former world No. 1 Dinara Safina in early April to help her reach a new milestone in her young career, after breaking into the Top 20 last year.

However, as the player revealed this Thursday—after qualifying for the third round in Rome with a swift victory over Caroline Dolehide (6-0, 6-0)—the partnership has already come to an end:

"She went back home to Barcelona. She needed that. It was a great experience. She’s a former world No. 1, so she gave me a lot of advice on how to stay focused during a match and not let negative emotions ruin my game and mental skills. That’s what I learned, and I’ll try to use it as best as I can to improve every day."
