Madison Keys has been suffering from a virus for a few days. Already eliminated due to her two losses against Iga Swiatek and Amanda Anisimova, she decided to withdraw this Wednesday before facing Elena Rybakina.

While the first alternate was supposed to be Mirra Andreeva, she refused to play, stating she was not in form. Therefore, the second alternate, Ekaterina Alexandrova, will face the Kazakh player, who has already qualified for the semi-finals.

I propose the following changes to the rules:

1...a walķover will not be a loss. We have no control of player's health. If he or she is entered in a contest we expect them to play.

2...an incomplete match is not a loss. If a player forfeits we pick another match if there are more to choose.

3...this also applies if TT cancels a match. TT will not take hours to decide an outcome.
