Sinner Adds Hamburg Tournament to His Comeback Schedule Before Roland-Garros
Jannik Sinner is not present at the Miami Masters 1000, despite being the defending champion. The Italian, currently world number 1, is suspended for three months due to negligence by members of his team following his positive test for clostebol a year ago during Indian Wells.
Allowed to resume training in mid-April and competition on May 4 at the Rome tournament, which will take place at home in a complex that recently announced its expansion, Sinner is taking the opportunity to fill his schedule before the start of Roland-Garros.
In early May, Sinner will be in Rome, then he will participate in another preparation tournament before the Paris Major. Missing the Monte-Carlo and Madrid tournaments, the three-time Grand Slam winner will compete in the ATP 500 in Hamburg, which has been moved up in the calendar this year and will take place from May 18 to 24, the week just before Roland-Garros.
Sinner joins an already strong lineup for this 2025 edition. After the confirmations of Stefanos Tsitsipas, Holger Rune, Andrey Rublev, Gaël Monfils, and Jan-Lennard Struff, the Italian will now be present on the German clay courts.
"I am very excited to participate for the first time in the Hamburg Open, a tournament rich in tradition. The spectators always create an extraordinary atmosphere on the beautiful center court. I am looking forward to discovering Hamburg and playing for the first time at the Rothenbaum," the player himself stated on the Hamburg tournament website in recent hours.
