As the Cincinnati tournament, the last Masters 1000 before the US Open, approaches, players are gradually arriving to get acclimated. Sinner chose to skip Toronto to arrive as fresh as possible to defend his titles on American soil (Cincinnati and the US Open).
Having been in Ohio (the event’s location) for a few days, the Italian has held several training sessions, including one with Brazil’s young tennis sensation, Fonseca. The 18-year-old is one of his country’s rising stars and already carries significant expectations on his shoulders. Notably, this marks his first appearance in this tournament.
For context, Sinner dominated Rublev (4-6, 7-5, 6-4), Zverev (7-6, 5-7, 7-6), and Tiafoe (7-6, 6-2) last year to claim his first title at this event, his third Masters 1000 title at the time.
