Sinner defeats Giron at the Australian Open
The world No. 1 continues his winning ways in Melbourne. The defending champion, who had conceded the first set in his second round match against Tristan Schoolkate, was more expeditious in his third match against Marcos Giron.
The Italian won in three sets (6-3, 6-4, 6-2) and will now play in the last 16 of the Australian Open for the fourth year running.
Despite 37 unforced errors, Sinner made up for his small mistakes with a large number of winners (35, compared with 11 for Giron).
The two-time Grand Slam winner has yet to name his next opponent, as he will face the player who wins the match between Holger Rune and Miomir Kecmanovic.
In previous encounters with the Dane, both players have won twice each. Sinner, on the other hand, has never lost to the Serb in four matches.
Rune and Kecmanovic are currently battling it out for a place in the last 16 at Margaret Court Arena.
