Sinner defeated Holger Rune in four sets at the Australian Open. He won 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.
The Italian had a scare in the third set, when doctors came to measure his blood pressure.
With this victory, he becomes world number 1 in the Open era, with the highest winning percentage at 93.6% (44 wins to 3 losses).
He overtakes Bjorn Borg's 91.9%.
The defending champion will face either Alex de Minaur or Alex Michelsen.
