Sinner: "I never set out to be the best".
Jannik Sinner is the best player in the world, having enjoyed a top-class 2024 season. Almost never losing, with a string of titles to his name, he ended the year as the undisputed world number 1.
Interviewed by Esquire magazine, Sinner talked about his relationship with fame and success: "There's a lot more pressure on you. But I really believe there's no money that can replace being healthy and living your life surrounded by people you love.
You won't believe this, but I've never tried to be the best at anything. As far as I'm concerned, I attach more importance to the kind of person I am, the kind of people I surround myself with, the degree of trust I can have in them.
I don't believe that if you win, you're good, and if you lose, you're no good at all. Each of us has our own talents. The lucky thing is to find a way of expressing them."
