Sinner: "It doesn't matter who I play in the final, I'm just happy to be there".

Sinner: It doesn't matter who I play in the final, I'm just happy to be there.

Jannik Sinner spoke to James Blake (former world n°4) after his victory over Jack Draper in the US Open semi-finals. The Italian didn't comment on the state of his left wrist (injured in a fall), but said he was delighted to have the opportunity to contest another Grand Slam final.

James Blake:
"Jannik, you've got to tell me about that second set. Congratulations, it was incredible, but there was absolutely everything. The drama, your opponent not feeling well, you falling down, how's your wrist?
There was everything in that second set."

Jannik Sinner:
"Yes, first of all, me and Jack (Draper), we know each other very well. We're good friends off the court. It was a very physical match, as you can see.
I just tried to stay in it mentally. He's so hard to beat. It's a very special occasion."
I'd like to thank everyone for coming. The support has been incredible. I'm happy to be in the final here.

Blake:
"You've gained so many fans in the last two weeks. The final is coming up and you're going to play an American (Fritz or Tiafoe) no matter what. How do you think that's going to go?
How do you think you're going to feel, playing an American here in the US Open final?"

Sinner:
"I'm just happy to be in the final here. Whoever the opponent is, it's going to be a very tough challenge for me. But I'm looking forward to it.
This is my season. It's very, very positive. The finals are very special days.
Every Sunday you get to play in a tournament means you're doing an extraordinary job. We're just trying to keep pushing and we'll see what I can do on Sunday."

Blake:
"Well, congratulations. Everyone, Jannik Sinner in the final."
