Sinner overcomes Djokovic to win Shanghai

Jannik Sinner is currently the best player in the world.

The Italian is the undisputed world No.1 and has just dominated a fine Novak Djokovic to claim a new career title in Shanghai (7-6, 6-3).

In a match locked between the two players and where the servers ruled for a long time, Sinner was simply a little better than his opponent, particularly on the important points.

Never conceding a break point and never losing his intensity, Sinner smothered a somewhat bewildered Serb.

It was a match that had the air of a transfer of power, as it was his 4th victory in 5 meetings with the Serbian legend.

Alcaraz stronger but less stable than Sinner. Djo style is great but less precision as aging comes.

With Rafa retired, and Jannik and Alcaraz dominating 2024, I guess the new era has truly begun. We found Big 2 already, hope to find 2 more.

Same style but less power, aging Djo.

It's his hunger that has dropped a few %. Makes the difference.

Wouldn't surprise me if Djoko retires soon. His two main rivals left and he managed to clinch the gold that he didn't have. Each year will be much tougher now at his age and if Sinner isn't banned his chances in slams are very low. Sure he loves the game but he also loves his family so if he can't win the big one's I think the conclusion will come soon.
