"Sometimes, tennis is completely crazy," Granollers and Zeballos react to their US Open men's doubles title

Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos won the men's doubles final this Saturday in a stunning comeback against the British pair Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski (3-6, 7-6, 7-5).
In a replay of the Roland-Garros final, which the Spaniard and the Argentine had already won, Granollers and Zeballos triumphed after coming close to defeat—the pair saved three match points before clinching the win in a suspense-filled finish on Arthur Ashe Court.
Six years after losing the final of this same Grand Slam together to Cabal and Farah, they have now won their second Major of the season. The two men shared their reactions to this victory in New York.
"Right now, it's a very emotional moment. I don't know how we managed to win those last few points after all the emotions we went through during the match.
I mean, they (Salisbury and Skupski) played really well. But we kept fighting. If we had to describe this final in one sentence, it would be: 'Never give up.' The two and a half hours of the match were mentally exhausting, but in the end, it was worth it. We are very happy—it's something I can't even describe.
We are relieved and happy. It's an incredible feeling. In 2019, we also played the final but lost; we were so close. I believe we learned from that match to push even harder this time," said the 40-year-old Zeballos.
"As Horacio (Zeballos) said, it's an emotional day for us. Sometimes, tennis is completely crazy, and this match really was. We were close to losing this final, and 20 minutes later, we won it and lifted the winners' trophy.
The key was simply to fight until the last point. After the match, we saw the video of Carlos (Alcaraz) reacting to our victory just as we were heading to the restaurant. He was very happy for us.
It was really funny. Of course, it means a lot to have his support, especially coming from a player like him. I also appreciate him as a person," Granollers added in an interview with Punto de Break.
