"Start working seriously," Korpatsch's outburst against bettors after receiving insulting messages
World No. 155 Tamara Korpatsch was eliminated in her opening match at the WTA 125 tournament in Warsaw. In a tight contest, the German player fell in two hard-fought sets (7-6, 6-4) against Gao Xinyu, ranked 150th in the WTA.
After the match, Korpatsch received numerous abusive messages on her social media from bettors and responded with an Instagram story.
"No matter who is writing these nasty comments… Why do you keep betting on my matches? As you’ve all told me, I’m terrible, I can’t serve, and I don’t play good tennis. So if I’m so bad, why do you keep betting on me?
Stop sports betting and start working seriously instead. I couldn’t care less what you say about me. Thank you to everyone who keeps supporting me and sending me encouraging messages. I really appreciate them," wrote the 30-year-old Korpatsch on social media.
