Carlos Alcaraz set a new record by qualifying for the final of the 2024 French Open. He became the first player in the Open Era to qualify for a Grand Slam final on all three surfaces (hard, grass and clay) before the age of 22.
Before the age of 22, Roger Federer had played and won a Grand Slam final, at Wimbledon (2003), only on grass. Novak Djokovic had played and won a Grand Slam final, at the Australian Open (2008), on hard court only. And Rafael Nadal had played and won four Grand Slam finals, all at Roland Garros (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008), on clay only.
None of the three greatest players in history was as versatile as Alcaraz at such a young age.
