Stats - Keys hit 224 winners at the Australian Open
Madison Keys was imperious at the Australian Open. Last week, the American won her 10th career title, the most important of all as it was her first Grand Slam.
In a faultless run that saw her eliminate Li, Ruse, Collins, Rybakina, Svitolina and Swiatek, the world No.7 then upset the odds in the final to end the reign of Aryna Sabalenka, winner of the last two editions in Melbourne (6-3, 2-6, 7-5).
A second title this year after beating Jessica Pegula in the final of the WTA 500 tournament in Adelaide.
In near-career form, Keys hit 224 winners during the Australian fortnight (an average of 32 per match).
Since the start of the 2024 season, only Aryna Sabalenka has done more in a single tournament.
At last year's tournament in Madrid, the Belarusian world number 1 lost in the final to Iga Swiatek, despite hitting 231 winners over the entire Spanish event, according to data collected by Opta.
