Stats - Musetti, Sixth Italian Player in the ATP Top 10 Since Its Inception

In outstanding form in 2025, Lorenzo Musetti has seen his efforts rewarded. A finalist at the Monte-Carlo Masters 1000, the 23-year-old Italian is guaranteed to break into the top 10 after the Madrid tournament, where he is currently competing in the quarterfinals. Musetti will face lucky loser Gabriel Diallo for a chance to advance to the semifinals.
With this achievement, Lorenzo Musetti adds another impressive chapter to Italian tennis, which has been thriving in recent years. The current world No. 11 will become the sixth player from his country to enter the ATP top 10 since the rankings were introduced in the 1970s.
He joins Adriano Panatta, who was the first Italian to achieve this feat in 1973, as well as Corrado Barazzutti, who did the same five years later in 1978. After that, it took 41 years before another Italian player reached the top 10.
Fabio Fognini, who won the Monte-Carlo title in 2019, climbed to No. 9 later that year, and in the same season, Matteo Berrettini also broke into the elite group.
Finally, Jannik Sinner is, of course, part of this list. The current world No. 1 entered the ATP top 10 in 2021 and is guaranteed to remain at the summit at least until early June, through Roland-Garros, where he reached the semifinals last year.
