Stats: Nadal and Djokovic Almost Alone in Rome Since 2005
Over the last 20 editions of the Rome tournament, only five different winners have claimed the prestigious Italian trophy.
A true legend on clay, Nadal dominates by a wide margin with ten final victories, ahead of Djokovic (6). The Spaniard has only lost twice on the final step of the podium, in 2011 and 2014, both times against the Serb. The two members of the Big 3 have thus won over 75% of the titles in the Italian capital since 2005. Moreover, starting from that year, it took eleven years before a new winner emerged (Murray in 2016).
Zverev, victorious twice (2017, 2024), and Medvedev (2023) complete this ranking. It’s worth noting that in the years Murray and Zverev won their titles, Djokovic was also present in the final.
