Stats: No French players in the men's round of 16 at Roland-Garros, a trend becoming the norm
After Quentin Halys' loss to Holger Rune, Arthur Fils was the last remaining French player in the men's draw at Roland-Garros. However, physically hampered, he had to withdraw before his third-round match on Saturday against Andrey Rublev.
As highlighted by *Jeu, Set et Maths* on X (formerly Twitter), this marks the fifth time in the last eight editions of the tournament (between 2018 and 2025) that no French player has reached the second week in the men's singles.
Even worse, during the first fifty editions of the Open Era (from 1968 to 2017), this had only happened six times.
This year, 18 French players were in the men's main draw. Nine advanced to the second round, but only Halys and Fils made it to the third round.
