Winner over Korda in the third round of Roland-Garros, Tiafoe ends a long drought
Frances Tiafoe won the American duel against Sebastian Korda in three sets (7-6, 6-3, 6-4) on Friday.
The world No. 16 qualified for the round of 16 at Roland-Garros for the first time in his career, and he also ended a losing streak that had lasted for more than three years.
It had indeed been 1,127 days since Tiafoe had won a match on clay against a top 30 player. His last victory in such conditions was a quarter-final match in Estoril against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
Without losing a single set, he will play on Sunday for a place in the quarter-finals against Daniel Altmaier, the world No. 66, who defeated Taylor Fritz in the first round.
