Stephens withdraws from Indian Wells due to foot injury

Sloane Stephens, outside the top 100 and on a streak of 9 consecutive losses, had received a wild card to play in the Indian Wells tournament.

Unfortunately for her, she was forced to withdraw due to a foot injury.

As a result, qualifier Maddison Inglis takes her place in the draw and will face Sofia Kenin.

The lucky loser is Sonay Kartal, who will face Varvara Lepchenko in the first round.
