Stockholm: Injured, Rune Bares His Fangs to Reach the Semifinals

Injured but determined, Holger Rune fought intensely to overcome Tomas Etcheverry in three sets in Stockholm. A pivotal match in his quest for the Turin Masters, where the Dane is playing for much more than just a semifinal spot.
This Friday, October 17th in Stockholm, Holger Rune did much more than just win a match. Hurt in the thigh and visibly hampered, the young Dane bared his fangs and showcased his fiery spirit to overturn Tomas Martin Etcheverry (6-7, 6-3, 6-4) and advance to the semifinals of the ATP 250 tournament in Stockholm.
While his forehand remains as explosive as ever, it was in his movement that the world No. 11 struggled, affected by his thigh injury.
By winning in Stockholm, Rune joins Frenchman Ugo Humbert in the final four. More importantly, he remains 11th in the Race, keeping his hopes alive for the Masters tournament in Turin.
