"Strange and nonsensical things have been said," Swiatek unfiltered about criticism before her Wimbledon triumph
Qualified with ease for the round of 16 in Montreal by defeating Lys (6-2, 6-2), Swiatek attended a press conference. When asked about the criticism regarding her lack of titles before Wimbledon, the Pole did not hesitate to respond:
"I have no doubt that I would sign up for a year without winning any titles if, in exchange, I won a Grand Slam. I try not to read anything that’s published about me because strange and nonsensical things have been said. It’s quite ridiculous what I’ve received, so there’s no point for me to pay attention to what you publish."
In Canada, she will try to ride her momentum to deliver a strong performance in this WTA 1000 event in Montreal. To secure a spot in the quarterfinals, she will have to overcome Denmark’s Tauson.
