Stricker, 22, is considering ending his professional career

Dominic Stricker has somewhat disappeared from the radar in recent months.
Following a good 2023 season where he notably reached the fourth round of the US Open after defeating Alexei Popyrin, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Benjamin Bonzi before being ousted by Taylor Fritz after three tight sets, Stricker faced several struggles afterward.
This run in New York also allowed him to compete in the Next Gen ATP Finals that same year.
Unfortunately for him, Stricker never really managed to confirm his potential. Injured in the back during his semi-final against eventual winner Hamad Medjedovic, the Swiss player, now 22, missed the entire first part of the 2024 season due to his injury and only returned for the grass-court tour.
Defeated in the first round at Wimbledon by Arthur Fils, Stricker has mostly competed in Challenger events since then, as he is now ranked 289th in the world.
He did not experience more success at the US Open, where Francisco Comesaña ended his hopes in the first round. Apart from a small breakthrough in Stockholm where he eliminated Kovacevic and Berrettini, the Münsingen native struggles to break free from his negative spiral.
Across all tournaments, Stricker has lost all five matches he played this season and has only won three of his last ten matches.
According to the local media NZZ, his coach of two years, Dieter Kindlmann, has left him and resigned from his position. His father, Stephan Stricker, has also recently criticized the Swiss Tennis Federation, claiming they do not protect his son enough.
Ranked 88th in the world in October 2023, Stricker, according to NZZ, has expressed his desire to end his career, no later than the end of the current season.
Beaten in three sets by James Duckworth in the first round of the Australian Open at the beginning of 2025, Stricker fell out of the top 300 after his early elimination at the US Open 2024 but managed to climb back to his current position of 289th.
