ATP 250 Gstaad Tournament Draw: Ruud Returns to Competition, Potential Wawrinka-Bublik Showdown in the Second Round

With Wimbledon now over, the ATP tour resumes with tournaments across the circuit. In Switzerland, the ATP 250 Gstaad tournament kicks off its annual July event. After Alexander Zverev's withdrawal, Casper Ruud stands as the main headliner. Ranked 15th in the world, the Norwegian will make his long-awaited return after a month and a half away from competition.

Defeated in the second round of Roland-Garros by Nuno Borges, the former world No. 2 has been recovering from a knee injury that had been troubling him for weeks. Ruud will enter the tournament in the round of 16, facing the winner of the match between Dominic Stricker and Pierre-Hugues Herbert.

Sixth-seeded David Goffin will take on Martin Landaluce, while third-seeded Pedro Martinez will meet either Roman Andres Burruchaga or Dalibor Svrcina in the round of 16. Terence Atmane will challenge Wimbledon quarterfinalist Kamil Majchrzak and could face Laslo Djere or a qualifier if he advances.

In the other half of the draw, Arthur Rinderknech will start against a qualifier, while Arthur Cazaux has drawn Nikoloz Basilashvili. A potential matchup against fourth-seeded Tomas Martin Etcheverry could follow.

In the bottom half of the draw, second-seeded Alexander Bublik could face Stan Wawrinka for a spot in the quarterfinals. However, the Swiss veteran must first get past Alexander Shevchenko.
