Struggling but still here: Sloane Stephens will return to Auckland in 2026
For several seasons now, Sloane Stephens' career has been struggling, with the American unable to regain the level that made her a Grand Slam champion (US Open 2017).
Even worse, the 32-year-old player is on a streak of twelve matches without a win on the WTA tour, her last victory dating back to the first round of Wimbledon in 2024.
Invited to the Auckland tournament
However, Stephens does not plan to put away her rackets just yet. Indeed, the former world No. 3 will definitely be on the courts in 2026, having received a wild card for the WTA 250 in Auckland (January 5-11).
She will make her return to a court she knows perfectly well, having won the title in New Zealand in 2016.
