Icon of women's tennis, Venus Williams briefly returned to competition during the American tour this summer, securing a first-round victory in Washington, then continuing with Cincinnati and the US Open, where she did not find success, however.

Although her career is now limited to a handful of tournaments per season, the American legend has chosen to continue the adventure in 2026. She has received an invitation to compete in the main draw of the WTA 250 in Auckland (January 5-11).

A 22nd appearance at the Australian Open?

Present in Charlotte this week for an exhibition, the former world No. 1 was asked about a possible participation in the Australian Open, where she has not played since 2021:

"For now, I can only confirm Auckland. We'll see what happens next."

The rest therefore remains a mystery, but with Venus Williams, every decision can still surprise.

I hope not. Yet another waste of a wild card that could actually go to someone who might benefit from it.

they shouldn't give her a wildcard.. no way, let her compete in the qualifiers if she wants a way in

As much as I love watching Alcaraz at his best, I'd love to see Alex taking this, he's such a tryer, and getting married and his humour and humility...

Favoritism?

Last year: Sinner seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 2.

This year: Alcaraz seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 3.

That means: 7 matches in 15 days for Alcaraz, 7 in 13 days for Sinner; and no rest day for Sinner between quarter and semis, 1 full day rest for Alcaraz.

Also, on the first very hot day, the organizers schedule Sinner...
