Swiatek Advances in Three Sets in Wimbledon Second Round

Iga Swiatek, the recent finalist at the Bad Homburg tournament, remains in contention at Wimbledon.

The world No. 4, who has never gone further than the quarterfinals at the All England Club, faced Caty McNally in her second match of the fortnight. The match started ideally for Swiatek with a 4-1 lead in the first set, but she then lost six consecutive games, allowing her opponent to take control.

After dropping the first set despite having the upper hand, the Polish player corrected her course and conceded only three games to McNally in the next two sets. Winning 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 in 2 hours and 24 minutes, Swiatek will now move on to the third round at Wimbledon. There, she will face another American player, Danielle Collins.
