Swiatek beats Siniakova to reach the second round of the Australian Open
Iga Swiatek made her Australian Open debut. Her first-round opponent was Katerina Siniakova.
The Pole won her match 6-3, 6-4 in 1 hour 23 minutes. A fine start, with no shaking and without wasting too much energy.
The X Jeu, Set et Maths account shared a statistic showing Swiatek's dominance: since Wimbledon 2019, she hasn't lost a set in a Grand Slam first round.
That's 42 sets won consecutively and an average of 2.5 games lost per set.
As she signed the camera, the Pole paid tribute to the victims of the fires in the USA.
She will face Rebecca Sramkova in the next round.
