Gauff beats Kenin to qualify for the second round of the Australian Open

In the first round of the Australian Open, Cori Gauff faced Sofia Kenin, former winner of this tournament in 2020.

The American imposed her game, winning 6-3, 6-3 in 1 hour 21 minutes.

With nine double faults, Gauff will have to be more efficient on her serve to avoid putting herself at risk on the important points.

In the second round, she will face Jodie Burrage, who beat Léolia Jeanjean 6-2, 6-4.

She also paid tribute to the victims of the Los Angeles fires, signing the camera: "Stay strong, Los Angeles. Thanks to the firefighters".
