Osaka wins on the wire against Garcia in Melbourne

Naomi Osaka beat Caroline Garcia 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 in Melbourne on Monday. The Japanese marks her revenge on last year, when Garcia beat her at the same stage of the competition.

After a first set controlled by Osaka, Garcia managed to come back to within a set of each other.

In the third set, the Japanese broke early, and despite four break points, Garcia was never able to close the gap.

In the second round, she will face Karolina Muchova.
