Swiatek, Efficient, Launches Her US Open with a Victory Over Arango
Iga Swiatek has regained confidence in recent weeks and is once again establishing herself as a serious contender for the title in New York. Having won titles at Wimbledon and Cincinnati, the Polish player has reclaimed her world No. 2 ranking and is approaching the US Open with even more motivation.
Facing Emiliana Arango in her opening match, the 2022 champion has, in any case, perfectly launched her tournament. Against the Colombian, whom she was facing for the first time, Swiatek did not falter and secured the win in two quick sets (6-1, 6-2 in 1 hour of play).
For a spot in the round of 16, she will face Suzan Lamens, who had just defeated Valerie Glozman minutes earlier (6-4, 6-2). For reference, the 24-year-old player has always reached the second week in the last four editions of the tournament in New York.
