Swiatek: "It's not so easy to handle the pressure".
World number 1 Iga Swiatek is not immune to the pressure of major events. Quite the opposite, in fact. The Pole's status as the new Queen of the French Open means that she almost has to win the tournament if she is not to face a major disappointment, both her own and that of all her fans.
The relief felt once the task has been accomplished is therefore liberating. But to achieve this, you first have to be able to manage these immense expectations.
Iga Swiatek: "It wasn't that easy to handle the pressure. I was tense, so I'm just glad I managed to concentrate on my game. I think my tennis was on point, it gave me a lot of confidence. I'm really proud to have won another title here.
We're all a bit nervous in these circumstances, which is normal, because these are big matches. Even though I'm good enough to focus (on my tennis), although sometimes it's not that easy. But I managed it in the end, so I'm super happy."
