Swiatek praises Fonseca: "When Nadal retired, I struggled to find someone whose game I appreciated, then I watched Joao"
Before making her debut tomorrow against Caroline Garcia at Indian Wells, Iga Swiatek answered a few questions from ESPN Brazil.
Asked about the performances of Joao Fonseca, who has already become a national star in his country, the Polish player responded:
"I find him extraordinary. When Nadal retired, I didn't watch many ATP matches. I still follow Alcaraz. But I struggled to find someone whose game I appreciated. Then I watched Joao and really liked his way of playing and moving.
The decisions he makes on the court too. I think he's a player I will follow. Thanks to him, I'll watch more ATP matches. He's doing very well.
I hope Brazilian fans will be patient with him because he's still young and has time to develop. With a calm mind, little by little, he will become a great player."
