Swiatek takes it easy and goes for a ride

Iga Swiatek needed to regain her confidence. Visibly blunted in recent weeks, the Pole urgently needed to reassure herself.

After a very difficult first round in which she seemed rather uncomfortable, the world number 1 found her feet again on Thursday, tormenting poor Shibahara in barely an hour's play (6-0, 6-1).

Buoyed by her new-found tennis, Swiatek is back in the title hunt and will now face the winner of the duel between Cocciaretto and Pavlyunchenkova for a place in the last eight.
