Tabilo Explains the Keys to His Success Against Djokovic: "I Felt Ready to Take on the Challenge"
Alejandro Tabilo secured the second win of his career against Novak Djokovic in Monte-Carlo, continuing to be one of the few players with a positive record (2-0) against the former world No. 1.
Speaking to Tennis Channel, Tabilo shared his analysis of the victory:
"I tried to play on the court without any particular pressure. I had discussed this match a lot with my coach. We both know what I’m capable of when I’m in good form.
On top of that, I had already beaten him on clay (in Rome in 2024), so that definitely helped me stay more relaxed.
Mentally, having faced him before helped me a lot. Although there’s always a bit of stress when you get close to winning against a guy like Novak. [...]
Djokovic’s name still strikes fear. We’re talking about someone who excels in every aspect, especially mentally. But I felt ready to take on the challenge.
I was lucky to start the match solidly while also trying to be aggressive. I tried to maintain that approach throughout the match. I saw that I was putting him in trouble, which helped me handle the key moments better."
