Tartarini, Musetti's Coach: "At the Midpoint of the Second Set, I Told Him to Retire"

Simon Tartarini, the coach of Lorenzo Musetti, spoke about the final that pitted his player against Carlos Alcaraz.
He addressed Musetti's injury and claimed he advised him to withdraw: "This morning (Sunday), during the warm-up, Lorenzo had an issue with his quadriceps.
At the midpoint of the second set, I told him to retire—he was in a lot of pain. I was thinking about the future; he risked getting injured, but he said he wanted to finish the match.
I think the crowd understood, but he wanted to see it through. We’ll run tests—it could be a minor strain.
Now we’ll do all the necessary medical exams because, in the heat of the moment, we couldn’t even perform an ultrasound.
Maybe a slight edema, so a short break is essential."
Following this injury, Musetti withdrew from participating in the Barcelona tournament taking place this week.
