Tauson: "After beating Sabalenka, I thought I was going to lose".
Clara Tauson continues her fine run at the WTA 1000 tournament in Dubai, where she has qualified for the semi-finals.
This Friday, she takes on Karolina Muchova. Speaking at the press conference after her victory over Linda Noskova, she declared: "I'm very happy.
To be honest, I had sent a text to a friend saying that I had played very well against Sabalenka and that I was sure I was going to play very badly the next day against Noskova.
If you win a lot of matches, it's normal for your confidence to grow too, everything lines up.
I think that was reflected in today's match; there was a moment when I started hitting a lot of forehands down the line, especially in the last few games.
If I'd been less confident, I'm sure I wouldn't have hit those kind of shots at any point in the match.
I'm feeling good at the moment, I'm happy with the way I'm playing.
This year, I've won some good matches right from the start, and I've played very well in almost every tournament.
I think consistency has been the key factor for me and my results.
I've never been able to maintain such consistency in events of this calibre, so it's really nice to prove to yourself that you can do it.
I know that in most matches at this level, I'll be the non-favorite player, so I hope to have a better ranking soon, even if it means the pressure will start to weigh on my shoulders."
