Tauson, Suffering from Back Injury, Withdraws from BJK Cup Qualifiers with Denmark

A tough blow for Clara Tauson. Ranked 21st in the world, the winner of the WTA 250 tournament in Auckland and finalist at the WTA 1000 in Dubai earlier this season, has been forced to withdraw from Denmark’s two matches in the BJK Cup qualifiers this weekend.
Tauson cited a back injury as the reason for her absence from the Scandinavian team in the coming days: "Unfortunately, I had a reaction in my back in Miami, and I tried to prepare to fight for these two matches until the last minute.
Things are improving, but unfortunately, I won’t be at my best for this weekend’s international matches.
Several of us have faced similar issues last week, and WTA players must acknowledge that they need to schedule more wisely to protect their health and prioritize their calendars to minimize risks," Tauson stated for the Danish Tennis Federation.
Representing Denmark in Bratislava, the delegation will now consist of Johanne Svendsen, Rebecca Munk Mortensen, Laura Brunkel, and Emilie Francati as they take on Slovakia’s Rebecca Sramkova and the USA’s Jessica Pegula and Danielle Collins.
